Meet the Physician

Jose A. Rodriguez, M.D.

Jose A. Rodriguez, M.D.

Dr. Rodriguez is native New Yorker, born and raised in The Bronx.  He is a graduate of Harvard College, and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Following an internship at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, he completed his residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery.  His fellowship in Arthritis and Joint Reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital was completed under Chitranjan S Ranawat, and followed by the Maurice E Muller Fellowship in Hip Surgery in Berne, Switzerland, under Professors Muller and Ganz.  He began his practice at Lenox Hill Hospital in 1995, and became an attending at Hospital for Special Surgery in 1996.

In 2007, Dr. Rodriguez was appointed Chief of Adult Reconstruction, and in 2008, he became Program Director for the Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital.  He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the James Rand Award for Outstanding paper in Knee Surgery, the Maurice Cowan Award for Excellence in Medical Education for 4 years, and the Chitranjan S Ranawat Mentorship award.  In addition, Dr. Rodriguez has been named one of America's Top Surgeons by the Consumer Research Council, and recieved the Patient's Choice Award in 2008.

Dr. Rodriguez maintains an active research program; with 37 peer reviewed publications, 5 ongoing prospective studies, and 2 ongoing randomized studies in the field of hip and knee surgery.  He serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Arthroplasty, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and the HSS Journal.  Dr. Rodriguez is a retired US Army Reserve Major, having served 2 tours of duty in Iraq.
